Study of Platelet Functions in Pregnancy, Labour and Puerperium

چکیده
Normal pregnancy associated with many changes in coagulation profile. These changes are important for intrapartum blood loss and also for thromboembolism during pregnancy, labour and puerperium. From various studies it is well known that quantitative and qualitative changes in platelets play an important part in thrombotic and haemorhagic states. So present study aimed at to find out any quantitative change in platelet functions during pregnancy, labour and puerperium. This study was carried out in the Department of physiology, AMC, Dibrugarh, Assam. 50 cases of pregnant, 50 in labour, 50 in puerperium. and 50 non-pregnant women of child bearing age group are enroll for my study. For platelet functions we consider two key tests platelet count and bleeding time. In my study mean platelet count decreases in pregnancy and labour than that of non-pregnant but again the count increases in puerperium. But mean bleeding time increases in pregnancy but the count was low during labour and again it increases in puerperium. It is partly due to hemodilution and partly due to increased platelet activation and accelerated clearance (Shehlata et al., 1999 and McCrae, 2010).To conclude thromboembolism and bleeding disorder are two major complications of pregnancy to puerperium . So to prevent the complication proper study of coagulation profile is necessary.

Simultaneous determinations of total cortisol and progesterone by radioimmunoassay during late pregnancy.
Total cortisol and progesterone in the maternal peripheral sera were determined by radioimmunoassay. Total cortisol was measured in 196 sera, and progesterone in 203 sera obtained randomly throughout pregnancy. And serial estimations of both steroid hormone levels were also made simultaneously in 6 normal pregnant women during late pregnancy, labour and puerperium. Total cortisol and progestero...

Aim: Normal pregnancy is associated with haemostatic changes which have been linked to a complex physiological adaptation but these changes return to that of non-pregnant state at about 4 weeks of post-delivery. This study was undertaken to monitor the haemostatic changes during pregnancy and puerperium in North-Western Nigeria. Materials and methods: Ten pregnant women, aged 17-40 years were m...
متن کاملThe Steroid Hormones in Pregnancy
THE marked changes in hormone production in pregnancy are associated with changes in metabolism and function. Much of the work which has been done and is being continued in the Clinical Research Unit of this department is concerned with the changes in body composition in normal and abnormal pregnancy and the puerperium and in the uterine activity in la;bour. The earlier endocrine work had been ...
متن کاملAntifibrinolytic activity in normal pregnancy.
It is found that serum antifibrinolytic activity is inhibitory both to the spontaneous fibrinolytic activity and to the activity of streptokinase-activated plasminogen. The titres of serum antiplasmin activity during gestation, labour, and the puerperium are all of the same order and do not differ from those in non-pregnant women. The marked decrease in the spontaneous fibrinolytic activity in ...

UNLABELLED AIMS AND OBJECTIVE(S): Evaluating feto-maternal outcome in pregnancies with abnormal liquor volume. MATERIAL AND METHOD(S) 200 pregnant subjects between 20 and 42 weeks of gestation, who were clinically suspected to have an abnormal amniotic fluid volume (oligohydramnios or polyhydramnios) were subjected to ultrasonographic (USG) assessment of amniotic fluid index. The subjects wer...
